Christiaan Huygens, born on the 9th April 1958. Came from a fisheries market owner's family who lived in the Town of Den Helden on the Northern Tip of the Province of Noord- Holland.
His father is a Dutchmen (Fredreek Huygens) and his mother a german (Anna Goctenheimer) immigrant who fled on the occupation of the Germany by the Communists. As a consequence Christiaan Huygens is adamently hostile to the German Democratic Republic. He has been reported to have said at the party conference that "the federal Republic of Benelux ought to strive to end the communist occupation of Germany and to end the oppression of the peoples who find themselves enslaved by the Soviets in USSR".
Christaan joined the Conservative Republican Party when he was 18 years old and showed a flair for politics. At the age of 27, (1985) he held his first junior post in the government of Ruud Lubbers (November 4, 1982 - January 13th 1990). Later the government of Ruud Lubbers collapsed under corruption charges.
